3. Character Information II

Age/Appearance: Katniss is 17 year old girl. Although she used to be on the scrawny side due to lack of food, in the last year she has had more than enough to bulk up. She has long, dark hair she usually wears braided over her shoulder to keep it out of the way. Her face is round and smooth, with olive colored skin and tilted, grey eyes.

She dresses, when given a choice, in sensible, easy to move in clothes. She holds herself tall, and sure, and isn’t someone who often fidgets (unless she is having to discuss something too personal), instead often falling still to watch what is going on around her.

History: http://thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/Katniss_Everdeen

Personality:

Katniss is not a selfish girl, however before being reaped she was a very self-centered girl. Her life revolved around taking care of her people (her mother, Prim, and later Gale and his family). There was no spite there, just an exhaustion, both physical and emotionally. She did not wish others ill, she just had to keep them alive and there wasn't any more energy left over to care about much else. Taking care of her family after her father died left her with a severe case of tunnel vision, never looking past their immediate needs. Life was about one foot in front of the other, not about reaching for a happy ending. It wasn’t that she disagreed with her best friend Gale's passionate belief that the capitol was horrible, she just didn’t have the time or energy to focus on something she couldn’t change. Or you know, anything else that wasn’t getting food on the table.

This tunnel vision leads her to sometimes missing things. People being so in love with her they’ll gladly die for her, for example. That isn’t to say she is dumb, at all. When she is focused on an issue she is incredibly clever and resourceful. Especially when her life is on the line, whether it is figuring out how to feed her and Prim, to saving her and Peeta in the arena. But she is not the most observant with emotions (her own or others) and interpersonal relationships. Her reaction to being forced to deal with them is generally to try not to for as long as possible. In addition to being somewhat obtuse to them, she doesn’t like to show weakness or be seen as weak, especially given the events in her life. Being weak, losing control can mean death. She can be cold, she can explode in anger, and when she’s handling emotions particularly well, shut down and run away from them.

She also has a high sense of honor. She doesn’t like to be indebted to someone, and will always try to pay them back, and get out of their debt. In her head she keeps a constant running checklist of what she "owes" people for, and when she has cancelled that out. Clearly not something that can always happen, but something she always tries for. It is not just an issue of not wanting to be in debt to someone for herself, although that is also part of it. More than that, however, she feels like it is disrespectful to them for her to not pay them back.

Katniss has become cast as a leader, a title she isn’t very good at, not because she seeks out to lead, but because no one else is stepping in to get the job done. This is why she has become the face of propaganda so perfectly. When she does commit to something, she commits to it all the way, and little can sway her. Everything that she has had the oppurtunity to became passionate about in life has been dear to her. Stubborn and fearless. It is this fearless, no bullshit attitude that draws people to her. This isn’t always a good thing, given as how it has made her the figure head of a rebellion she didn’t plan to lead. It is a hard position for her to be in; on one hand she doesn’t disagree with the idea behind it, on the other it puts everyone she loves in dangers way, which is the opposite of what she wants.

Right before arriving in Bete Noire, she was competing, again, for her life in her second Hunger Games. Most people don't survive one, and through a manipulated loop hole she is in her second. Although she is not exactly a trusting, open person to start with, to her knowledge her allies in the Games had just turned on her and Peeta and attempted to kill her. So she is coming in less trusting than normal, which is saying something for Katniss.

Sexual Preferences/Orientation: Katniss doesn't think about sex. Or tries not to. Sometimes those things just come up. She doesn't have anything against sex, or romance, there just isn't room for it in her life, and the way her love life has been manipulated (for better and for worse) has left the whole situation a tangled up mess in her mind. And not a mess she isn't too keen on sorting out any time soon. The whole situation makes her uimcomfortable (to the point she jumped through hoops to not see Peeta naked in the arena, although by her canon point she has mellowed a bit about nudity.)
She is not asexual, however. Peeta has stirred feeling in her multiple times, and even Gale has effected her. She is just intimacy impaired. Orientation wise she is heavily straight leaning. She is not oppose to the idea of homosexuality as a concept, but it just isn't anything that gets her going.

Powers: None. She is just very good with a bow and arrow.
Reason for playing: Katniss is really fun because she makes a lot of mistakes, she is stubborn, she gets into messes, and Bete Noire is just one big mess. She is also someone very tied to her people and her world, so taking her out of the setting and away from a good chunk of those people throws her off in fun ways (for me, terrible for her). There is also an awesome Finnick I'd like to bounce her off of, and she has a fresh start in the game, unlike De and Rapunzel who are sort of entrenched in their CR right now. She will fill a diffrent niche in the city than them and give me chances for CR with people that I didn't previously have.

First-Person:
[The last thing she remembers is Johanna hitting her with the wire casing, but her head isn't aching, and she is some place strange. Very strange. Because it is built like the Capitol, huge and sprawling, and full of tall buildings and cars and generally well feed people...but it looks as kept up as one of the districts.

And she has this thing that is clearly to communicate with. But...she doesn't exactly want to annouce to the world where she is, who she is, and that she has no idea what's going on. But she needs to find out is she has any allies here. More than in the arena, at least. Lifting up the device, there is a brief flash of her face, before she coveres the camera whole with her thumb.]

Where is this?

[It's a start. Not the best one, but better than nothing.]

Third-Person:

Katniss is caught in a terrible nightmare world with Loki and Red.

Third-Person #2:

Katniss and Peeta's last night in the Capitol.
